Homelessness is a crisis we can’t ignore

Thank you very much for visiting my blog and taking the time to read it! Homelessness is a crisis that we just can’t ignore, in this blog I am aiming to raise awareness about Crisis, the national charity for single homeless people, and gain your support on this cause because it is a big and growing issue, I would also like to highlight people’s attitudes towards homeless people and hopefully change yours.

So, why should you support crisis?

  • Crisis does amazing work with the homeless, giving them life skills and enabling them to find work and get off the streets.
  • You can support in simple ways like donating or even just telling your family and friends about Crisis
  • One donation can go towards making someone happy, safe and self-sufficient for a life time.
  • Supporting is a simple way of helping your community and is a great way to give back
  • It will help those who really need it and who otherwise would have nowhere to turn
6437 slept rough on London’s streets last year and so many more in the rest of the UK, on average these people die at just 47 years old and are 13 times more likely to experience violence than you and me. Most of these people are on the streets as consequence of relationship break ups and they are unable to do anything about it. As well as this these people have to deal with abuse, and negative perceptions mean that they can feel worthless and depressed. Crisis is here to support these people; they do this by campaigning, providing them with education, helping them to get into the jobs and housing markets and helping them to be self-sufficient.

But Crisis cannot fight this battle alone. Crisis relies on donation, volunteers, fundraisers and the support of the public; this is why they need you. You can help out in simple ways like telling your family and friends but if you want to do more you can find out more on their website http://www.crisis.org.uk/pages/what-we-do.html . As well as this Crisis has the support of many celebrities Such as Ed Sheeran, Joe Brand, Sir Ian McKellen and Coldplay, help these legends fight for what is right by supporting Crisis now.

Thank you very much for reading my blog! I would be extremely grateful if you could fill in the feedback section below so I am able to know how successful my blog has been. Thanks again.

Hi my name is Hannah. Firstly I would like to thank you for taking the time to read my blog. My chosen theme for this blog is education in Zambia. The charity I have selected that supports this is Edu sport. I want to increase peoples understanding of what this charity does and aims to do in the future. I think you should support my cause because:
  • They do lots of vital work in communities such as yours helping disadvantaged young adults
  • Friends of Edu Sport are dedicated to helping you
  • Imagine if you were in a situation where you needed help. Would you want people to help Edu Sport help you?
  • They need funds for the vital work they do and you could help them with it
  • Without you Edu Sport will not be able to continue the vital work they do and thousands of young adults around Zambia and the UK will be left with no more options. People like Adogo…
When Adogo was 8 his father left his mother. About a week later his mother became very sick. She was diagnosed with HIV Aids. Because of this Adogo and his 11 year old sister had to leave school to look after their ill mother. Within weeks of leaving school his mother died. She was 25 years old. That’s where Edu Sport came in. Knowing that Adogo had always loved football they invited him to come to one of their training sessions. As soon as he got there he got stuck in straight away. Now 7 years in Adogo is still attending the sessions and is on the fast track to becoming a professional footballer.

Please now take a few minutes to watch this short clip about one of the projects that edu sport have been carrying out.

Asthma UK - supporting me every breath of the way

Hello my name is Lara and I would like to start by saying thank you for taking a few minutes of your time reading my blog. My chosen issue is very important to me as i was diagnosed with asthma at the age of three and was diagnosed as a brittle asthmatic four years ago. I want to raise awareness of this charity and they help the people suffering and their families as well as great ways that you can fundraise as well as telling you how bad this illness is.

I think you should support my advocacy because asthma is a serious illness. I think that Asthma UK are a very thoughtful and caring charity; they’ve taken care of many families suffering with loved ones that are affected with the illness and have also helped children and adults overcome there fears of what could happen to them. As well as doing lots of fundraising to find new cures and medications to help sufferers. Around 1.1 million children are suffering from asthma in the UK alone and 4.2 million adults. 3 people die a day from asthma and in 2011 1,167 deaths were recorded due to asthma.

Sophie’s Story:
It was a Sunday like any other….

Sophie’s mum got ready to leave for her night shift, then popped into her room. Thinking that she had been short of breath earlier in the day, and she was worrying that she should get some rest. Listening to her words “See you later mum. I’ll rest in my room and watch Harry Potter,” she said to her mother. Not thinking this would be her last time talking to her daughter. “I love you sweetheart. I’ll see you later.” she replied.

Asthma was an illness that Sophie and her mother shared, along with their big brown eyes and so many other things. Knowing that asthma could kill, but her mother never thought it could kill in minutes.

Sophie’s mother received a call at her work around 7pm. She got off the phone and drove home, seeing the ambulance she started screaming, seeing her beloved daughter on the stretcher, not believing what she was seeing.

Not a day goes by without her family thinking of their lovely daughter. Finding it hard thinking that their beautiful daughter was no longer with them. By living with this pain, it has helped them to support Asthma UK’s progress to prevent Children suffering from asthma die. With such little support from many people, we can do so much to help prevent children like Sophie from a fatal asthma attack.

With more and more support Asthma UK will be able to help families. Its just twenty pounds to save a life of  child like Sophie. If you give a donation even a small amount of money goes a long way like researching into new medicines to help asthma sufferers and hopefully one day find a cure.

Thanks again for taking your time to read my blog! I would now like to take another minute of you time to ask you a few questions. If you could answer them relating to my blog that would be very helpful. If you helped out, you could of saved an asthmatics life! There is also more information of the following website http://www.asthma.org.uk.
