Help SportsAid support young athletes to our country’s victory

Firstly, I would like to say thank you for taking time to read my blog. My name is Freya and I feel very strongly that young British athletes do not get enough support to ensure that they reach their full potential - possibly a gold medal in the Olympics.

After reading my blog I hope that you feel more informed about the troubles young athletes face, and that you may consider donating to the cause.

Our country is famous for its legendary athletes like Sir Chris Hoy and Jessica Ennis but nobody knows about our young athletes like Jade Jones. Jade is a young British taekwondo athlete who competed at London 2012 winning Britain’s first woman’s gold in the category. Jade received a cash prize from SportsAid at the beginning of her career. This enabled her to achieve her life-long goal, and win an Olympic gold medal.

SportsAid is a charity which aims to help these athletes by awarding them cash prizes to spend on their sporting careers. These athletes typically spend £5,000 a year on their sports, showing that they have dedicated themselves towards their sport. As well as offering a financial boost, SportsAid give the athletes some recognition and encouragement. This helps them massively in the first steps of their sporting lives. Supporting over 2000 athletes with 75 different sports, SportsAid is a truly remarkable charity.

I believe that all athletes should receive the same amount of support, regardless of their age.
If you are interested in the work SportsAid does, please follow the hyperlink to their website: http://www.sportsaid.org.uk/

Thank you again for reading my blog. Please leave me a comment with your thoughts.  In particular, it would be great if you could please write a response to the following questions:

  • Have you heard of SportsAid before reading my blog?
  • Do you now feel more informed about SportsAid and the work it does?
  • Would you now consider supporting SportsAid in any of the following ways?

       - Make a donation to SportsAid
       - Make/join an awareness/fundraising campaign?
       - Tell your friends and family about SportsAid and what they do?
       - Sign up to a regular newsletter from SportsAid about upcoming events?

If you do leave a comment please can you put your hometown and country (if not UK?)

Many thanks
Freya
