Homelessness is a crisis we can’t ignore

Thank you very much for visiting my blog and taking the time to read it! Homelessness is a crisis that we just can’t ignore, in this blog I am aiming to raise awareness about Crisis, the national charity for single homeless people, and gain your support on this cause because it is a big and growing issue, I would also like to highlight people’s attitudes towards homeless people and hopefully change yours.

So, why should you support crisis?

  • Crisis does amazing work with the homeless, giving them life skills and enabling them to find work and get off the streets.
  • You can support in simple ways like donating or even just telling your family and friends about Crisis
  • One donation can go towards making someone happy, safe and self-sufficient for a life time.
  • Supporting is a simple way of helping your community and is a great way to give back
  • It will help those who really need it and who otherwise would have nowhere to turn
6437 slept rough on London’s streets last year and so many more in the rest of the UK, on average these people die at just 47 years old and are 13 times more likely to experience violence than you and me. Most of these people are on the streets as consequence of relationship break ups and they are unable to do anything about it. As well as this these people have to deal with abuse, and negative perceptions mean that they can feel worthless and depressed. Crisis is here to support these people; they do this by campaigning, providing them with education, helping them to get into the jobs and housing markets and helping them to be self-sufficient.

But Crisis cannot fight this battle alone. Crisis relies on donation, volunteers, fundraisers and the support of the public; this is why they need you. You can help out in simple ways like telling your family and friends but if you want to do more you can find out more on their website http://www.crisis.org.uk/pages/what-we-do.html . As well as this Crisis has the support of many celebrities Such as Ed Sheeran, Joe Brand, Sir Ian McKellen and Coldplay, help these legends fight for what is right by supporting Crisis now.

Thank you very much for reading my blog! I would be extremely grateful if you could fill in the feedback section below so I am able to know how successful my blog has been. Thanks again.

  2. It was interesting to find out more about Crisis and the work it does. I was shocked to see that the average age of death for the homeless is 47 years the same age as me!
