Dolphins to Die…? You could help us raise awareness of this abomination…

What does the thought of dolphin slaughter, cruelty and mistreatment mean to you? Does it make you sad? Does it make you angry? Do you feel an urge to help raise awareness of this barbaric treatment of intelligent animals?

We are Anita, Emily and Sophie and our aim to make people in our area more aware of this serious issue and gain support in this battle to stop dolphin slaughter. We also aim to make more people informed and to change the attitudes of those who don’t bother/didn’t know about it. For many people, when they think of dolphins, they probably don’t immediately think of how these beautiful creatures are selfishly killed and sold for food in countries such as Japan.  Not everyone is fully aware of how dolphins are trained for dolphin shows, where the dolphins appear to be so happy. After all, ‘a dolphin’s smile is nature’s most deceiving mask’. The way they are so cruelly murdered is shocking.

Ric O’Barry, the founder of Save Japan Dolphins revealed the horrific secrets in an upsetting documentary called ‘The Cove.’ It unfolded the fishermen’s cruel tactics to slaughter the trapped dolphins. They are speared and harpooned to death and continuously stabbed until their blood turns the water red. Others are dragged for miles in the water with their noses tied with rope until they drown to death. Some fishermen claimed that “The more savage, the nicer the meat tastes.”

Would you like to help raise awareness with us? Just a small action such as telling your friends about what’s happening to dolphins can make the biggest of differences. It’s not fair on these helpless animals, being trained harshly to take part in zoos or dolphin shows. It’s not fair that they are fished out of their home, torn away from their pod and slaughtered for meat that contains high levels of toxic mercury. We must do more to help this marvellous species of animals – scientists believe that dolphins are cleverer than some humans. Imagine what would happen if future generations, your children and their children never got the opportunity to see these beautiful animals, which is all the more reason to support us.

Will you help…?

Thank you for reading our blog, it would be extremely helpful if you could please post a comment to us answering the following questions along with the name of your hometown & the country you live in please:
  • Have you previously heard of dolphin slaughter and Save Japan Dolphins before reading our blog? Do you now feel more informed about this issue?
  • Would you now be willing to help us or support Save Japan Dolphins? E.g. Make a donation, sign their online petition, tell others etc.
  • Has our blog changed you response towards dolphin slaughter to our way of thinking – that it should be stopped?
Thank you once again for taking an interest to read this and we hope that we have achieved our aims and influenced you to support us. If you want to find out more, visit their website – www.savejapandolphins.com

With Thanks

  6. This is so moving and effectively written it is amazing how horrible these people can be to such gentle animals. i knew of this charity before but i never really understood the full extent of the work and how much needs to be done. I can't believe that in this day and age people can still get away with this horrible crime. An excellent blog and very informative, I would definitely donate to this charity. Well done girls.

It hasn't changed my thinking towards dolphins in general (I was already against dolphin slaughter)
