Together we will beat cancer

Thank you for taking an interest in my blog. I’m Mollie By reading my blog I hope that you will learn a lot about Cancer Research U.K and the brilliant jobs they do. My aims are to raise awareness and gain support from people like you, because YOU make the difference.

Cancer Research U.K is the world’s leading Cancer charity funded only by public funding; they do a fantastic job looking after and saving seriously ill people’s lives. They have saved millions of lives so far, but they can’t help everyone, unfortunately many people do lose their fight to Cancer and not all types of cancer have a cure yet, but cancer research need your support and donations to help fund research into new cures for cancer and also to help support cancer patients and their families.

Here is an example of how Cancer Research U.K can help change lives for ever;

Seven-year-old Thomas was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia when he was just 18 months old. He had been suffering from appetite loss, listlessness and infections and was sent for a bone marrow test at Manchester Children's Hospital. Once the diagnosis was confirmed he was given intense chemotherapy in two blocks eight weeks apart. He spent three years in and out of hospital and finished all of his treatment in March 2008. He is now doing well and helped to launch Cancer Research UK's Manchester Shine event as well as being nominated for a Little Star Award. "He always has a smile on his face," says his mum, "His early years were incredibly tough but the only reminder he has now is the scar from his Hickman line. Other than that he's a normal, bright, very bubbly little boy."

This is just one of the happy endings Cancer Research U.K has created; once people receive help from Cancer Research U.K the outcome is incredible. But with your help, more treatments could be found, thousands more could survive and more happy endings could be created. Thank you again for reading my blog. Please could you now post me a response with your thoughts, in particular it would be very helpful if you could answer the following questions (Please could you also state where you are from i.e. -your home town or country, if outside the U.K?)
  1. Had you heard about Cancer Research U.K before?
  2. Had you ever donated or participated in a fundraising event for them?
  3. Do you now feel more informed them magnificent jobs they do?
  4. Would you now consider helping Cancer Research U.K, either by donating or fundraising?
Thank you!
Mollie Turley 8R

I have been a active memeber of cancer research for a number of years, due from a history of cancer in our family, many of my friends fundraise for cancer research like the half marathon. I think they do a great job but we need more research to find a cure.
Well done Mollie for a great post x

Dear Mollie- really well done on the blog- a great thing to do -I do hope it helps- have spent all afternoon with your Mum in clinic (she was on best behaviour!!)
I am an ENT consultant but my Uncle is a professor who specialises in leukaemias so I have seen how the treatment and the prognosis of these diseases have changed over the years. That would not be possible without the help of people like you doing great things like this so ....... really well done & keep up the good work- best wishes James

  12. Hi Mollie,
    Amazing blog, good work!
Yes I do know and yes I am trying to do my little bit here in Auckland, NZ.
I work for the Eastern Bay Hospice( East of Auckland) as a volunteer as much as I can between my other working times. They have second hand shops ,op-shops, in my area.
It is great to see how fantastic donations we get every single day. All of the donations goes to help anyone who needs the Hospice services and to keep the hope up.
I think we are at least 250 volunteers trying to work different shifts in the shop.
Take care Mollie and keep the blog going. See you in May! XXX Ki
