We must stop drugs in sport.
Hello and welcome to my blog on stopping illegal drugs in sport and about how you can help people who have or are going through these rough stages of drug usage before it’s too late. Most blogs that you read can be very boring and can make you lose interest on the topic and by the time that you have finished reading it you would have forgotten half of the important information. Not this blog!
Drugs in sport is unfortunately going on all around the world and have been for years. We can’t just be lazy about drugs in sport and do nothing we actually have to stand up and campaign and make people aware of the side effects.
Drugs in sport is basically where someone is bored of their usual pace or techniques of sport, so they take anabolic steroids which makes them improve in their sports massively but they are obviously not aware of the side effects. The effects for this can be very serious and can vary from a cough to self harming and an eating disorders, many effects also have an effect of themselves and make you depressed, tired, hungry and miserable all of the time. Did you know that 40% of people who do professional sports take drugs or a form of medicine to make them improve?
Stopping drugs in sport also links to my campaign, The Taylor Hooton foundation which links to my blog. The Taylor Hooton Foundation is an organisation that is set up to make aware young athletes about the dreads and fears of the uses of drugs in sport. There is a very touching story behind this charity. Taylor was a young 17-year-old boy who loved playing baseball in his hometown in Texas, USA. His dream was to become a professional baseball player and play for the top teams of the states. His baseball coach told Taylor that if he wanted to achieve his dream he would have to get bigger and stronger, the coach meant by working out at the gym and eating healthier foods, but Taylor took a dark route along with some other team members and took anabolic steroids behind his families back. Unfortunately on the 5th of July 2006 Taylor committed suicide as a result of his anabolic steroid use.
His father Don Hooton was the one who set up the foundation and wants to make aware young people about this and to stop and hopefully ban drugs full stop. You can Help Taylor and his family by logging on to there website at www.taylorhooton.org and leaving a comment and watch some of the inspirational videos that Don has kindly made about his son’s story. If you want to support the foundation you can always donate to them on the website, even a little counts, it will make a huge difference. Drugs is a dark route many people pick the wrong path, 45% of people who take drugs in sport unfortunately die from the uses, this is a big percentage, do you really want to chose this option? Thank you for reading my blog. It would really mean a lot to me if you left a short comment about it and about the following questions-
1. Did you know about the foundation already?
2. Do you feel more aware of the problem?
3. Did you like my blog and my information?
4. Would you be prepared to do the following things….
• Watch some of the inspirational videos
• Sign up on the website
• Make a donation to the foundation (even a little counts)
• And if you do response tell me where you come from so I know how many people like my blog.
I hope you enjoyed reading it, and I hope that you realise how much the foundation means to me and to the Hooton’s.
Many Thanks
Yasmin
