We should be more aware of the growing issue of children living in care.

Hello, first and for most, we would thank you for taking your time to read our blog. We have chosen the charity “Families for Children” to work on for our coursework for the GCSE in Citizenship we will be taken in a year’s time. We feel very strongly about this charity and helping it as much as we can and we hope you will do too. By the time you have finished reading this blog we want to have made you more aware about the growing issue of children staying in care homes all their lives and not having the chance to live their lives like so many of their other friends- with their own home and a family. We also hope you will try your best to support the charity like we do and here are a few reasons why:

• With your help you can help places hundreds of children in a loving family
• You can change children`s lives forever
• With the money you raise you can buy equipment to make their lives more fun in the care home.
• Also the money raised can help advertise this organisation meaning more people will become more aware if this growing issue.

The charity “Families for Children” is situated in Buckfastleigh, Devon and has placed 200 children in the last 5 years. However there are 4,000 children a year in the UK waiting for a loving family to go into and you can help to place ore and you can do this in many ways. A few of these are:
• Do a sponsored event- such as sky diving (!)
• Try and raise money for this charity
• Donate money

And there are many more! But if you do not want to do something as extravagant as sky diving this then you could always organise an event such as Rainbow Day, which enables you to wear a sock of the rainbow, just donate a pound and it will be sent off by the school to Families for Children. For more information on how to help this charity and more please visit this website http://www.familiesforchildren.org.uk/index.html.

To finish we would again like to say thank you for taking your time to read this blog but also ask if you would please take another few minutes to answer these questions. If possible could you please reply in the comment box below and say where you are from ( your town or country if not in UK).

1. Have you heard of the organisation “Families for Children”
2. If not, have we made you more aware of the work they do?
3. Would you now think about donating money to this charity?
4. Would you tell your family and friends about this charity now you have heard about it?

Thank you again

    3) Yes, I would think about donating money to this charity, although it would probably be a one off payment not a regular monthly donation as I am already comitted to other charities in this way.
    4) In respect of telling my family and friends about the charity I think this would be dependant on additional information about the charity being forthcoming.

  11. I didn't know how much of an affect the charity had on me. I thought because I couldn't adopt a hold I couldnt help but now I know by just donating money I can make a big difference.
