GIVE POLAR BEARS FREEDOM

Thank You for showing interest in my Blog. My cause is to save any more Polar Bears from being put into Zoo’s and where possible release them into the wild. I feel very strongly about this cause as Polar Bears are beautiful creatures and deserve a chance in the wild. We need to end the torture, by giving them freedom.

Attitudes need to change, if not now then when? People need to realise the truth that having Polar Bears in captivity is not right. The polar bears can be severely mentally and physically affected. So if you ever hear of a local campaign or petition, join in. Born Free are a charity who can help. The Born Free Foundation is an international wildlife charity working throughout the world to stop wild animal suffering. It returns many animals, including polar bears to the wild and prevents cubs from being taken into zoos.

'Stereotypic’ behaviors, such as excessive pacing, have been seen by many as a response to locking up highly intelligent animals that may cover thousands of miles of sea ice while hunting and searching for mates. Will Travers, the director of the Born Free Foundation, says, 'They are possibly one of the most wide-ranging large mammals on the planet. To imagine that they could be provided for psychologically and physically in a captive environment is just not possible.’

What do they do? Well, in 2001 they worked with Maniobita Conservation in Canada to prevent three orphaned cubs from being put into an American zoo. The three bears were successfully returned to the wild with a surrogate or adopted mother. You can find more information at www.bornfree.org.uk
How does this affect you? Bears are inquisitive and opportunistic and can suffer particularly badly in captivity. Bears in zoos and circuses can display much abnormal behaviour, such as bar-biting, swaying from side to side, or even self-mutilation. Do you want these beautiful creatures to be kept in zoos? When they could be on the ice hunting seals? Thanks to Born Free only one zoo in the UK has Polar Bears and there welfare has drastically improved.

Please could you comment on my blog so I can use this feedback in my campaign;
a. Had you heard of my cause before? Do you know more now?
b. Would you now be prepared to make a donation to Born Free, or any other Polar Bear charity?
c. Would you now be prepared to support polar bears?
d. Could you state your hometown and country ( if not the UK )

Thank you so much for reading my blog. I hope you feel more informed and will help the polar bear flourish,
Isabelle,
