Animals Can’t Speak to Save Themselves – We should speak for them!
Hello, my name is Abi and I would just like to thank you for taking an interest in my blog on the Blue Cross. I am trying to raise awareness of all the good work that the Blue Cross does both locally and nationally. You could support the Blue Cross by adopting an animal or even giving them a small donation as all the money they get is a great help. The Blue Cross run sponsored events all over the country to raise money so they can take care of the animals in the centres.
Why should I support this charity? – You may ask!
You should support them because…
• They work entirely on donations - they don’t get any funding.
• Their smallest centre re-houses around 30 to 40 animals a month.
• Most of their workers are volunteers.
• They help animals who are abandoned, in distress or who no longer have carers to look after them.
• Every animal they get brought will always be re-homed.
The Blue Cross has 11 adoption centres and 4 animal hospitals across the United Kingdom. Their centres in Burford and Rollestone are equine centres (Burford adoption centre also helps other animals). Below is a story about a rabbit who was found in Oxford and he got brought in to the Blue Cross’ Burford Adoption Centre.
Mr Cringle is back on his feet
A rabbit that was dumped and left to die in the freezing cold is back on his feet. The poor creature was found abandoned in a crate on a golf course in Oxfordshire. He was brought to the Burford adoption centre where staff named his Mr Cringle. Both his feet had lost their fur because he was left to stand in filth and he needed urgent treatment to his ears which had mites in the canals. Luckily, Mr Cringle has now recovered his ordeal.
You now know about the Blue Cross, but what can you do to help?
To help you could…
• Donate money.
• Shop in the Blue Cross’ charity shops.
• Take part in their sponsored events.
The Blue Cross works entirely on donations from the public so below you will find an internet link to the page on the Blue Cross’ website where you can donate some money to the charity. On average every year their smallest centre in Torquay costs about £200,000 to run, so just imagine what their biggest adoption centre would cost.
