Poverty in Torbay has to stop. Help Anode fight poverty today!

Thank you for taking an interest in my blog. I am Ellie and I feel very strongly that poverty in Torbay should stop. This poverty ranges from homelessness to living without something and I think that we should all support Anode to help bring families out of poverty. Many people seem to overlook those who live on the streets or those who are deprived of something and this needs to change.

You might not be aware, but 1 in 4 children in Torbay are in families who struggle to pay for basic needs like food and clothing and heating. This means that 24% of children live in poverty! This is much higher than any other places in the UK and this is the problem Anode addresses. Anode aims to change lives, especially those of children, to enlighten them to a successful future. Let me tell you a story about Darcy. Darcy lives with her mum who has leukaemia and she has become a 24/7 carer for her. Darcy should not be living like this cooking, shopping and struggling with no money.  Anode has recently supplied them with food packages as part of their RESTORE plan. As a result Darcy is able to attend school regularly and her mum is given the necessary treatment that she needs. Their lives have been changed through Anode’s regular packages and the family has been kept together.

Helping Anode is a very practical way to help alleviate poverty.  Anode is a reputable charity which means that the money you donate or the food you give will be used wisely and will really benefit those living in poverty. Through your donations, we can help bring more people out of poverty and you can say, “I am fighting poverty with Anode”.  Anode is a local charity that is engaged and knowledgeable about the needs of the community. Anode provides a positive connection for the hundreds of families they assist.  Anode is the cornerstone families can rely on.

Thank you once again for reading my blog. I would really appreciate it if you were to post a response in the box below with all your thoughts to the following questions. It will only take a few minutes and will be very much valued. If you are interested in finding out more about the work that Anode does in Torbay, please visit their website: www.anodecharity.co.uk to help those suffering poverty in Torbay.
  • Have you heard about the work that Anode do in Torbay?
  • Do you now feel more informed about the charity Anode and the poverty that arises in Torbay?
  • Have your attitudes been changed towards those living in extreme poverty such as those on the street?
  • Would you now consider supporting Anode in the following ways below to help demolish poverty in Torbay and make the families lives better:
  1. Give a donation to Anode of food or money?
  2. Be a volunteer to Anode and help them to pack food hampers?
  3. Tell your friends and family about the amazing work Anode does and ask them with the above?
If you do post a response, please can you tell me where you come from  i.e. your hometown and country (outside the UK).

Thanks once again!
Ellie

  9. I did not realise that a quarter of children in Torbay live in poverty. This is shocking and saddening. Anode sounds like an excellent charity. I would consider donating food or money.

    YES! Thank you.

Have your attitudes been changed towards those living in extreme poverty such as those on the street?
Definitely its a gradual process for my attitudes to change, and this article has helped. :-) YES.

Would you now consider supporting Anode in the following ways below to help demolish poverty in Torbay and make the families lives better:

I live in Torquay but my hometown is Winchester. Hope this helps.

PS The boys grammar have done a collection for ANODE again this year and Nigel Williams is speaking in their Christmas assembly. Imagine if the girls grammar did this too? or at harvest time or Easter time did something like this? where the houses compete to see who can bring in the most food items? Just a thought.

Also did you hear the amazing story of the lady who came back 3 years later after anode had helped her with food parcels and support when she and her children had escaped a domestic violence situation and she brought LOADS of food because now she is back on her feet she wants to give back to them having received so much! how awesome is that. Anyway. I think this is a great article. Well done.
