People are dying and not another life should be lost, that’s why you should care. In 2012, cancer was the leading cause of death… In the UK alone, 157,275 people died of cancer in 2010 and 20,000 people around the globe will die today. And we must do better!
When Avalanna was 9 months old, she was diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer - atypical teratoid rhabdoid tumor (AT/RT). AT/RT is a very aggressive form of cancer and the average survival rate is only about 10% and the median survival is approximately 7 months. She endured multiple rounds of chemotherapy, surgery, radiation and cell transplants and stayed high-spirited, feisty and fixed on surviving. Survival rate of AT/RT is usually measured in months not years but Avalanna fought it for 5 years. Despite her bravery, Avalanna didn’t survive. SU2C needs your help to make sure that no other family has to suffer the heartbreak that Avalanna’s family had to suffer.
With your help, more treatments could be found to treat the 100’s of cancers that are out there. Thousands more people could beat cancer, and happy endings could be not just the thing of fairy tales for people like Avalanna. Stand Up To Cancer currently funds 437 scientists from over 99 prestigious medical, educational and advocacy institutions, who are now working together.
Your help could make all the difference. For further information please visit: http://www.standup2cancer.org/ Thank you so much for reading my blog. Please could you now post me a response with your thoughts, in particular it would be very helpful if you could answer the following questions.
