Hit the whale and dolphin murderers where it hurts- right in the wallet!
Hi I’m Meg, and thank you very much for showing an interest in my blog! I am an advocate for the WDCS, a charity which fights for the rights of whales and dolphins all over the world. By the end of this little blog I hope to have achieved the following three things.
• Raise awareness of my advocacy topic
• Gain support from everyone reading this, (I will tell you later how you can support me)
• And finally, to change your attitudes or opinions on my advocacy.
Although you might not ever dream of even being near a whale or dolphin in the UK, sadly, many people around the world (mainly in China and Japan) eat whale and dolphin meat as part of their daily diet. It is even available on the lunch menu in many schools in Taiji Japan. Unfortunately, the people of Japan who receive supplies of whale and dolphin meat have no idea where this meat is sourced and some dolphin meat is packaged as whale meat so people are misled as of the fact that cetacean meat has a very high level of mercury. This is a potentially fatal ingredient when ingested. Other parts of these beautiful creatures are used to make ancient medicines even today. The Japanese Population receive this supply of meat from Japanese fishermen, who murder thousands of dolphins and porpoises each year . But in 2009 2,500 supermarkets stopped selling cetacean products! This inhumane slaughter involves the dolphins and porpoises being shot with harpoons, being dragged backwards through the water until they drown. Another cruel method of killing these intelligent creatures is to encircle them with boats and intimidate them to such an extent that their high pitched screams can be heard by the human ear.
If you are wondering why you haven’t heard of this happening, it is because of the fact that this killing spree is done in complete privacy, in a small cove, in a town called Taiji in Japan. The horrifying facts have been uncovered by a man called Ric O’Barry who, incidentally, was the most famous dolphin trainer in the world. When he uncovered these atrocities he decided to tell the world what he had seen. He has done this by making a movie called “The Cove. If you have not seen it, I would recommend that you watch it as it will really change your views, as it did mine. Beware that the movie can be very upsetting!
Pressure groups such as the WDCS are fighting for the lives of whales and dolphins all over the world. They are campaigning to get the voices of these majestic creatures heard. They campaign all over the world by lobbying different governments that have no interest in saving whales and dolphins at all. They also support decision-making governments and educate the public and fight for governments to live up to their agreements.
Along with other activist groups the WDCS have recently achieved a major success. Whale and dolphin meat has been removed from school menus in Taiji Japan, following the movie The Cove. The very sad recent earthquake- triggered tsunami in Japan has actually destroyed one of the biggest coastal whaling bases in the world, which will help save the lives of more whales.
. You can support the WDCS in many ways, would you now;
1) Watch the movie The Cove
2) Donate to the WDCS
3) Adopt a whale, dolphin or orca for a small monthly amount using the following web link: WWW.WDCS.co.uk4) Spread the word by telling your friends and family!
5) Lobby your local MP to raise the issue on the political agenda.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read my blog. Could you please tell me your home town and country and whether or not my blog has influenced you on my advocacy topic.

I think it's terrible that people kill whales and dolphins, they will become endagered, and stop existing. They are beautiful abimals that should be given some respect.
