We should be able to keep our teens and children off the streets!

Hello I’m Georgia, welcome to my blog on teen and child homelessness. In this blog I will be informing you on the hard facts and figures about how much child and teen homelessness is affecting the UK and what you can do to help. I will focus on one particular Pressure Group/Charity that helps teens and children get off the street and can help you get involved and help an innocent child or teen have a warm place to sleep TODAY! It is called The Children’s Society.

More than 250,000 people under the age of 25 are on the streets in the UK at the moment and this is an ongoing problem. There are various different reasons why they are on the streets: Poverty, abuse within the family, children coming out of the care system. These are just a few of the many different, delicate reasons why children run away or are forced to live on the streets. But it doesn’t stop there, because although it is awful enough that they have to live on the streets, lack of money could lead to further more serious problems: drug and alcohol abuse because of bad influences and depression, being forced to steal and maybe even prostitute. Health is another huge risk because without an adult it is sometimes difficult to futher judge whether they are seriously ill or not, whether they need to go to the hospital (also if they have run away they may not want to), without simple medication and simple illnesses could deteriorate easily.

The Children’s Society is a Charity/Pressure Group who tackle this issue directly as well as many other child based issues. They set up help centres all around the UK that are there for child support. This is a great charity that helps thousands of children but unfortunately does not get enough support and could help so many more children. An example of a child who had been helped by the Children’s Society is a young teenage boy called Ben, here is a video of his story: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1N2hJSjyCg . As you can see Ben could be considered a success story but what happened to him will never leave his mind. By supporting this Charity you can help and even prevent horrifying events like this happening to teens like Ben again. For more information visit http://www.childrenssociety.org.uk/

I hope you are now much more informed about child and teen homelessness and how it affects the UK and will support it in the future. Homelessness is such a big problem and will only stop with your support. WE SHOULD be able to keep teens and children off the street and this is obviously and issue that can be tackled but not without your help!

Thank you so much for reading my blog, Please will you post a response and answer the questions below:

• Had you heard of my cause before?
• Do you now feel more informed about my cause?
• Would you now support my campaign? And how will you support it?
• Would you tell your friends and family about my campaign?
• Would you be prepared to donate money to The Children’s Society?
Thank you again Georgia,
