We should do more to eliminate malaria! – Christian Aid

Thank you very much for showing interest in my blog. I’m Rebecca and I think that we should do more to help those with malaria. I think more people should support Christian Aid and that less people should be diagnosed with malaria. I hope that by the end of my blog, you will know more about malaria and the problems it causes thousands of people every day.

Just every 45 seconds; a child dies from malaria; which means it accounts for 1 in 5 childhood deaths in Africa. It is an easily preventable and treatable disease, which is all the more reason why it needs to be eradicated. According to the World Malaria Report 2011, malaria had caused an estimated amount of 655 000 deaths in 2010, an estimated 96% (596 000) deaths were in Africa and 38 000 deaths were in South Asia. 86% were children as young as five as young children are most vulnerable to malaria. Malaria once existed in Britain but was eliminated. Unfortunately, it still occurs in other countries and continents today. Christian Aid helps those who are affected by malaria and are trying to raise more awareness about the problem and trying to treat those affected. This is a picture shows some children in India who unfortunately have malaria.

Thank you so much for reading my blog. You can visit www.christianaid.org for more information about Christian Aid and malaria. Please could you now post a response with your thoughts and answer these questions:

  • Have you heard of Christian Aid before reading my blog?
  • Do you feel more informed about Christian Aid after reading my blog?
  • Would you now be prepared to support Christian Aid either by donating money or by fundraising?
  • Would you now be prepared to tell your friends and family about Christian Aid and try to persuade them to help Christian Aid?

If you do post a response, please can you tell me where you come from i.e. your home town and country (if not the UK!)

Thank you again,
Rebecca
