Make It up too the animals, not your Face!

Hello, my name is Lottie, firstly id like to thank you for taking an interest and looking at my blog on animal testing. Animal testing is a big issue all over Europe, and should be sorted out as it has outstayed its welcome here.
Right now millions of mice rats, rabbits, primates, cats, dogs, and other animals are locked inside cold barren cages in laboratories across the country. They languish in pain, ache with loneliness, and long to Rome free and use there minds. Instead all they can do is sit and wait in fear for the next terrifying and painful procedure that will be performed on them.  I am very strongly against this issue of animal testing, I own a dog myself, and knowing what its like to look after and adore a pet I feel how could those scientists hate them that much too test on them. All across Europe, an estimated 2.8 million animals a year are tested on and left with severe and harsh injuries, some lead to death. Many household products and cosmetics companies pump their products into animals' stomachs, rub them onto their skin, squirt them into their eyes, or force animals to inhale them as aerosol sprays. Over 375 companies still resort too the harshness of animal testing to test their cheap products.
The Organization I have chosen for my advocacy is ‘BUAV’ its stands for the British abolition of vivisection to animals. They visit European laboratories, started and successfully won 8 campaigns, created petitions, a fascinating but truthful website which you can visit at www.buav.org/. They've been on many undercover missions across Europe in scientist’s labs, tricking them, and then at last minute they publicize the news, and the lab gets shut down. A lot of products like mouthwash and aerosols sold from Superdrug and marks and Spencers etc. have the rabbit symbol saying ‘BUAV' approved. Buying these approved products really helps out this worthy group. There are many ways YOU can get involved, just visit there website and sign their petition, lobby your MP as followed instructions on the website, or donate some generosity and kindly accepted money too what I believe and hopefully you will now see a wonderful organization. They are completely voluntary and need all the help as possible.

Melon's Story: A This rabbit is called Melon, he arrived at Wickham on 15th June 2009.He was to be used in the pyrogenicity tests but on 25th August his left ear was badly bruised when a member of staff was unable to inject him with a substance. After a few days, it was decided that his damaged ear was not suitable for pyrogen tests. Thus, no longer serving a purpose at Wickham, he was killed by a lethal injection on 8th September. His body was put into a bin liner and placed in the freezer. Another young life ended.
Thanks for reading our blog; we would be very grateful if you would answer these few questions using the comments box, please can you tell us where you come from i.e. your home town and country (if not UK):

  1. Had you ever heard of ‘Buav’ before reading this blog?
  2. Do you now know/ feel more informed about there amazing work and harsh reality of animal testing?
  3. Would you now consider donating or helping in the process of running of Buav?
Thank you for your time, I hope you feel more informed about this particular cruel subject,

Lottie

Superman would save you, so we need to give Help for OUR Heroes!

Firstly, we would just like to say thank you to you for taking your time to read our blog. It is about a charity that we feel extremely strongly about. This charity is ‘Help for Heroes’. ‘Help for Heroes’ is a charity that helps young soldiers who have been injured in war and also helps their families with loss or any other problems it may be causing them. We can relate to how it would feel to have a young family member going off and fighting in war, as we both have older brothers of a similar age. Just imagining them going away for so long, knowing how much risk they’re at, breaks our hearts, so just imagine if it actually happened to you. You don’t know where they are, if they’re ok, or even if you’ll ever see them again.

This is Craig. You have probably never even heard of him, but he is more of a hero than most of the famous people you know will ever be; he fought for you. As you can see, he suffered many serious injuries due to war which he never in any way deserved.

Craig was 18 when he started fighting for our country. Craig was a rifleman. It was July 2009 and he was on a routine afternoon patrol. It was three months since he had officially become a rifleman. Of course, like any other person, he had never experienced a real life war zone before. That morning started like any other normal patrol. After they had been out for a while, they stopped for some water and when he was 10 feet away it happened. All he remembers is a big white flash, feeling something hitting him and seeing his friend running towards him. Craig was the only casualty, but his injuries weren't good. ‘I was aware I had been hit, but didn't realise how badly’, he said. ‘I know now that the process was very quick from the moment I hit evacuation and the result undoubtedly saved my life. I was taken back to Camp Bastion and stabilised. I was flown back home the next day,’ As of result of all this, Craig lost both his legs and his forearm. Craig was then taken to the ‘Help for Heroes’ rehabilitation at Headley Court and has benefited so much from the facilities there. He said that without their help he couldn't have handled it. He was able to use their swimming pool and gym, and was also able to take part in their ‘Battle Back’ activities, doing things like water skiing! ‘Help for Heroes’ helped Craig get back into normal life.

After reading that story, you can see how much ‘Help for Heroes’ save people from losing the normality in their life even after such serious injuries. Now you've read our blog we hope you have realised how amazing this charity this and now want to help people like Craig. Please comment below. In your comment, would you please tell us your name and where you come from, and always help us out by answering these questions..

  • After reading this, do you now feel you would like to donate money to ‘Help for Heroes’?
  • Would you now be more likely to take part in ‘Help for Heroes’ events?
  • Would you now tell your friends and family about this charity?

Thank you

We care for others, but we need care too – Please donate to Rowcroft

Hello my name is Cameron, firstly I would like to thank you for taking an interest in my blog. I am advocating for The Rowcroft Hospice- a worthwhile, Southwest based charity. This is a charity that is very close to my heart and I hope to spread the message during my Citizenship Coursework.

Rowcroft Hospice provides specialist end of life care to those with the highest incidences of Cancer and other progressive life limiting illnesses but also cares for their spiritual, emotional and physical needs. They offer care and support for the families and friends of the patient as they realise it will be a stressful time for them too.

At the end of 2011 my Nan was diagnosed with cancer, the primary source of the cancer was unknown and unfortunately the cancer had already spread to the liver meaning that palliative care was needed. The Rowcroft Hospice at Home service made such a difference to the way my Nan was looked after. They enabled her to be in the peace of her own home and in the comfort of her own bed during the last few days of her life. The Hospice at home team also eased the anxiety and stress for the rest of my family who were with her through those last few days. This allowed us to be with my Nan at all times and reassure her, while knowing that we had the help and support of the community team of specialist nurses and senior assistants every minute of the day and night. My Nan had the best care that we could have possible wished for her and the support that they gave us, as a family, when we felt most vulnerable and anxious was more than we could have asked for.

They have recently started a campaign called the ‘At Home Appeal’. This service runs 24/7, 7 days a week and provides vital care to local patients and their families, to enable them to remain at home where they are in familiar, comfortable surroundings with their families in the last few days of their life. It is already making a real difference to those who need our support. Rowcroft needs your help to ensure that this service can continue to support patients in the future.

I hope that you will understand the need to support such a much-needed local service. It costs £10,500 to run the at home service each week, this service will not be possible without help and donations from people like you. So please support Rowcroft Hospice and help them to take care to those who need it most.
Thank You so much again for reading my blog. Please could you post me a response with your thoughts, in particular, it would be great if you could just write a few words in response to the questions below. For more information about what Rowcroft does visit their website - http://www.rowcrofthospice.org.uk

  • Have you ever heard about Rowcroft before reading my blog? Do you now feel more informed about what Rowcroft does?
  • Would you now support Rowcroft and/or make a donation?
  • Have I now changed your views on supporting Rowcroft?

Many Thanks, Cameron

Dolphin Murderers - Is there still hope?

Hello and welcome to our blog; by Freya, Zahra and Giuliana. Firstly, we would just like to say thank you for showing curiosity in our blog. Small things like you opening our blog, helps us contribute to stopping the horrible killings of these innocent creatures.

We are trying to raise awareness of Campaign Whale, as we as well as many others, strongly believe that the murder of dolphins is intolerable and we are trying all that we can to inform people as a lot of the public are unaware of these happenings and we believe that by spreading the word, this will eventually become a worldwide problem to be solved. Our chosen organisation is called Campaign Whale, a non-profit establishment, which is acting against the murders of roughly 23,000 dolphins that are being slaughtered each year.  They have been working for many decades in revealing the terrible slaughtering which is happening to these beautiful, intelligent and loveable creatures and campaigning to make sure that it will never happen again.

The association was founded in 1980 and is managed by Andy Ottaway, and he overviews many campaigns but we have specifically chosen the campaign on ‘Japan’s Secret Dolphin Slaughter’ as it’s a subject we all feel strongly about. Although operating in England, this organisation targets many different countries worldwide to achieve support so we can gain justice for dolphins and other sea creatures.

However, they need your help. Due to the fact that the campaign receives no financial support from the government, they rely on the generosity from the dedicated and caring public to help financially to continue the amazing difference that they’re already making. If you choose to donate to Campaign Whale, you can choose how much and how often you want to contribute. Every pound makes a huge difference and your generosity would be greatly appreciated.

Together we can save Japan’s dolphins, but we need you.

Thank you once again for reading our blog. If you would like any more information on the topic, you could use this website; http://www.campaign-whale.org It would be greatly appreciated if you could post us a response on our blog, telling us your thought upon this disturbing subject. Please help stop these cruel and un-human actions towards these beautiful creatures in the sea and let them live a happy and free life. If you do give us a reply, here are a few questions to help you give us some helpful feedback. Please include your home town and country at the end of your response.....

*         Had you ever heard about ‘Japans Secret Dolphin Slaughter'?
