Help the RSPCA and stop testing on animals!

Thank you for taking an interest in my blog. My name is Gabriella and my advocacy is about lab animals and the terrible conditions many are put in. If I could put an end to animal testing with a click of a finger, I would. I’m sure many people would. This is why I am advocating this charity, the RSPCA, they support lab animals and realise that more than 100 million animals are globally used in experiments each year and need the support of a caring charity like the RSPCA.

I’m sure most people have heard about the RSPCA and what they do, but few people actually research what they do to understand it better. Hopefully this blog will raise awareness globally and allow more people like you to fully understand how the RSPCA support animals that have been used in testing. Also, you may learn something new about the topic.

I would like to share a story with you about some chimps that had been taken to an Austrian medical facility shortly after birth. They were taken from their mother and sent to the facility for medical research. They were kept there for many years and given HIV and hepatitis. In 1997, they were released and sent to a farm when the pharmaceutical company was sold. The keepers tried to introduce them to the outside world, but as the chimps hadn’t seen daylight in so long, they were scared. When given a patch of grass to eat, they threw them away. Eventually, in September last year, they were released and it was the happiest moment of their lives. Their keeper said, “The chimps are incredibly happy. This is amazing; I have been waiting for this moment for so long.” One commentator said, “They hugged as if saying ‘we’re finally free’ and then they laughed.”

Earlier this year, a debate was made in New Mexico when animal rights activists demanded the release of 180 working chimps to a sanctuary. If you wish to see the full report of this story and a video of the chimps being released, go to Lab chimps see daylight for first time in 30 years | The Sun |News
The RSPCA aim to help animals like these chimps, to give them the opportunity to live their life to the full by creating sanctuaries for them and making new laws against animal testing. For example, a total ban on the sale in the EU of cosmetics tested on animals has taken effect this year in March 2013. New laws subject to animal testing are created all the time, but, it’s not enough. There are still millions of animals dying needlessly around the world and we need your help. Thank you so much for reading this, would you please take a moment to answer a few questions and tell me where you come from, town or country (if not UK).
  • Had you heard/thought about animal testing and the RSPCA before reading my blog?
  • Do you now feel more informed about this issue?
  • Would you consider donating or supporting the RSPCA to put an end to animal testing, on cosmetics, in particular around the world?
Thank you again and I hope you found my blog interesting, this is a matter very close to my heart and I hope you now feel the same way in believing something needs to be done.

“The RSPCA as a charity will, by all lawful means, prevent cruelty, promote kindness to and alleviate suffering of all animals"
