The Power of a Simple Gift from Operation Christmas Child

Hello, my name is Deborah and thank you very much for reading my blog! I hope to try and raise your awareness about Operation Christmas Child- an amazing Christian charity that gives children in need a Christmas present in the form of a shoebox filled with gifts. They reach out to millions of children across the world living in poverty and missing out on opportunities many of us take for granted. Operation Christmas Child gives children back their childhood and brings communities together, all because someone like you has had the heart to send a shoebox full of love and hope to a child who is alone in the world.

The amount of children living in poverty, despite many efforts to decrease it, still remains an outstandingly large number, with over 218,000,000 people in Africa alone living in extreme poverty- and that’s just one continent! Just imagine how many children in the world live without proper education, hygiene or even leisure activities.

But don’t worry- every year, millions of people in the UK and USA join together to make children smile by giving them their first ever Christmas present- a shoebox full of  toys, hygiene items and educational items, giving them the basic supplies for a happy and healthy life. In 2011, over 1.2 million shoeboxes from the UK alone were sent to children living in poverty- and the number of dedicated people letting children know that someone loves them is still growing! Wouldn’t you like to be counted as one of them? More information on this brilliant charity can be found at www.operationchristmaschild.org.

Thank you so much again for taking the time to read my blog. Could you please now leave a comment with your response- it would be great if you could take the time to answer these few questions below:

  • Had you heard of Operation Christmas Child before reading this?
  • Do you feel that I have sufficiently informed you about the work Operation Christmas Child does?
  • Would you now consider supporting them by either:
  1. Packing a shoebox yourself?
  2. Making a donation?

If you do leave a comment, please tell me where you come from- i.e. your town or country (if not the UK!)
Thanks a lot!
Deborah.
