Help The CHSW make short and precious lives even more special

Hello and thank you very much for showing an interest in my Blog! ‘The Children’s Hospice South West’ is a charity which provides Hospice Care to life- limited children and their families. My name is Amy and I hope that by the time you have read my blog, you will know more about the problems faced by the many terminally ill children, not only across the South West, but throughout the world.

Have you ever stopped to wonder what it would be like to know that you wouldn’t make it past childhood? As a parent, you have to come to terms with the fact that your precious child is dying. As a sibling you have to watch your brother/sister slowly deteriorate. When a child is diagnosed with having a terminal illness, it affects the whole family. That is why the ‘Children’s Hospice South West’ do everything they can to help make the most of every moment a very sick child has with their family. And that includes giving them one – to – one specialist care, having fun times through play, music, outings and crafts – simple pleasures that many of us take for granted. Sibling support is provided and parents, who often struggle to cope with their children’s illness, find some relief from their responsibilities of care at the hospices.

Every 4 seconds, a child dies. Unfortunately, this cannot be stopped, but with the help and donation, the CHSW can continue to provide their specialist care. Thank you very much again for reading my Blog. Please do now post me a response with your thoughts. In particular, it would be great if you could write just a few words in answer to the following questions;

  • Had you previously heard of the ‘Children’s Hospice South West’?
  • Do you now feel more informed about the issues faced by terminally ill children and their families?
  • Would you now be prepared to do any of the following things to help improve the lives of children who have short and precious lives …. ?
  1. Make a donation
  2. Sign up to receive regular information about the work of the CHSW
  3. Start or join a fundraising campaign
  4. Inform others about the CHSW and the work that they do

If you do respond, please can you tell me where you come from, e.g., Your Home Town and Country (if not U.K?)
Further Information can be found on the Children’s Hospice South West website

    Living in Cornwall, I had come across this charity several times. I often give money to charities, and having kids, I can definitely appreciate how significant the impact must be for families with terminally ill children. I'll definitely consider making a donation in the future!
