Together, with the COP Trust, we can end Poverty in South Africa Now!

Hi, my name is Liberty and I would firstly like to thank you very much for taking an interest in my blog! I am supporting the COP Trust (Community Outreach Program Trust) for my GCSE citizenship. I feel very strongly that we should help people less fortunate than ourselves in whatever way we can, and the COP Trust is a great way to help and support these people. I hope that after reading my blog you will know a bit more about the people who the COP Trust are helping, and will feel that you may want to support the work of the COP Trust.

The COP Trust is a charity that does whatever possible to help the vulnerable and disadvantaged people of South Africa. In 2010, I went out to South Africa to support this charity and whilst there, I met some amazing people, but for me, one girl stood out – Pretty. She is a four year old girl who lives with her mum and two sisters in a tin shack, roughly 2 metres squared big. Her mum is not really fit to be a mother, and Pretty is left alone with her baby sister for a lot of the time. The COP Trust came into the township where she lived, and set up a centre for people to come to, have fun, and be safe. Pretty came along with her baby sister and she could see all the other children laying, so one of the volunteers came over and offered to look after the baby whilst she played, and Pretty  agreed. Ever since, she has been coming along to all the events held by the COP Trust including holiday clubs, jumble sales, BBQ’s and football matches and has started to get her childhood back. She has plenty of new friends, and she has a chance to be looked after, not look after anyone else. We want to be able to help more children and adults like Pretty, and the COP Trust now has over 15 projects in different townships to help do this, but we need your help and support to create more!

Thank you very much for reading my blog! If you can, could you please now leave a comment relating to this blog? It would be really good if you can answer the following questions briefly, in just a few words, in your comment!

  1. Had you heard of the wok of the COP Trust before you read my blog?
  2. Do you now feel more informed of the work that the COP Trust do?
  3. Would you now feel prepared to support the COP Trust in any of the following ways:
  • Visit their website at http://www.coptrust.org.za/
  • Donate money to the charity
  • Tell your friends and family about the work of the COP Trust
  • Donating clothes or toys to the charity?
If you do decide to leave a comment, could you please tell me where you live roughly e.g. Exeter, UK?

Thank you again!
Liberty
