“Where did Grandma Go?”- Support The Alzheimer’s Society

Hi, my name is Molly and thank you for choosing to read my blog about the Alzheimer’s Society. The Alzheimer’s Society is a really important charity to me and hopefully by the end to you as well. I am here to talk to you and try and persuade you to support the Alzheimer’s society for all the work that they do and if by the end, you would want to support, someday they will find a cure for dementia.

But firstly, what is dementia and what do they do?

Dementia is is a brain disease which involves mood changes, memory loss and problems with communication and reasoning. Due to the disease, people affected cannot think like we do. The most common type of dementia is Alzheimer’s disease. The disease at the moment can only get worse as it is a progressive disease. Also, they have not yet found a cure to treat patients with. The Alzheimer’s Society, a pressure group works day and night to try and improve the quality of care and the life of people living with Dementia in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Around the region, there are little services, which provide day care and home care for people living with Dementia. The Alzheimer’s Society is always campaigning, for the rights of people living with Dementia and their families. One day, those people who are suffering now will continue to suffer but one day, there will be a chance to live again but no one knows when.  As well as the Alzheimer’s society trying to find a cure, the cost of research is quite vast. Someday, they will run out of money to continue the research unless someone decides that the Alzheimer’s Society needs help to cure the terrible disease once and for all.

Why should I care?
  • At the moment, Around 800,000 people in the UK are diagnosed with Dementia. That in the UK alone.
  • In 2021, over a million will be diagnosed with dementia.
  • 60,000 deaths occur every year because of Dementia.
  • It could happen to YOU!
Thank you again for reading my blog and hopefully you realize that the Alzheimer’s Society needs the help to carry on the research to find a cure. And to keep giving to those who need it most when struggling with Dementia. If you can, please take the time to answer a few questions, I will be very grateful.
  • Had you ever heard of Alzheimer’s Society and did you know what they do?
  • Have you ever supported the Alzheimer’s Society by, for example, given money?
If not…
  • Do you now feel more informed about the Alzheimer’s Society and what do they do?
  • Would you now be willing to support the Alzheimer’s Society by, for example, giving money?
  • Finally, could you please write your home town, county, country?
