Animals in Distress - Help them, help the animals!

Thank you so much for taking an interest in Blog! I’m Leah and helping to find unwanted and abandoned animals find a new life is something I feel really strongly about. Most people are aware of the problem of unwanted animal being abandoned, but unfortunately not enough is done about it. Before I met my dog, this problem never occurred to me before, but since I’ve had Bear I have done all I can for this special cause. After reading my blog I hope you’ll feel more informed about the growing problem of unwanted pets like Bear.

So why should you care? Well every year hundreds of unwanted cats, dogs, etc. die on the streets because their owners didn’t want them anymore and couldn’t be bothered to take them to a centre. Domesticated animals have evolved to depend on humans for the necessities like food and water. If they don’t have access to these simple things then unfortunately they die. On the streets these animals may have access to rain or river water but food is hard to come by, and the risk of being caught rummaging through bins is too high. These animals trusted us, and once they are abandoned that trust disappears and the animal begins to fear humans, they may even become dangerous. Do you really want that to keep happening?

This is Bear; he is a five year old Golden Retriever X, who didn’t have the best start in life. In 2012 Bear was taken into Animals In Distress (he was one of many dogs brought to the centre by the same person over a period of years), because his owner could no-longer take care of him. Bear was overweight when he was brought in and had apparently he had only been taken for a walk once a week for half an hour. AID took him into their care, and in no time he was the correct weight, and was ready to come home with my family.

Thank you again for reading my Blog! It would be great if you could please post a response below. In particular it would be great if you could answer the following questions. For more information about this cause, AID’s website is: www.animalsindistress.uk.com .
  • Have you ever considered that the amount of animals being abandoned was becoming a problem?
  • Had you ever heard of animals in distress before?
  • Would you consider helping this charity by…
  • Making a donation
  • Volunteering
  • Taking part in one of their fundraising events
  • Or
  • Telling your friends and family about this charity?
If you do respond could you please tell me where you are from i.e. your home town and country (if you are not from the UK.)

Thank you so much for reading my blog!
Leah
