Why should you care?
- To create equality in sport.
- You, or a family member, could develop a disability and sport can help.
- All generations deserve the chance to play sport, as shown in the picture below.
- Discrimination against disabled athletes still happen
20 year old, Tom Munchington has Cerebal Palsy- which has never stopped him from doing anything. However, when he was young he could’nt play sport competitively as there were no available clubs. It wasn’t till he was a student that he had the chance to pursue his career in sport, he took part in a Somerset Activity and Sports Partnership compititon. It went on from there and he has competed at national level, now to old to compete as a junior Tom is training and volunteering for EFDS. Why is this relevant? It shows the need for more athletics clubs for disabled people. The picture above shows a young child having the opportunity to do something that Tom couldn’t to till he was in University- this is thanks to disability sport charitys.
