Happiness is the best medicine for ill children, help starlight achieve this

Hello my name is Ivy and thank you very much for taking an interest in my blog :) I am trying to advocate the charity Starlight for my GCSE citizenship. I have chosen this charity because my friend has been helped by them and in primary, we all did a sponsored silence to raise money for them and I did not know that much about the charity, but over time I have realised how important what Starlight does is. Starlight brightens the life of mentally and terminally ill children. They believe that a happy child heals faster than an unhappy child. There is many things that starlight do for the children that they help including: wish granting - they grant any wish that an ill child wants (if it is possible). An example of this is a child might want to meet their favourite celebrity. Starlight also hold pantomimes, parties and fun days out when ill children can escape from the hospital bed that they stay all day in. Finally they come into hospitals with distraction boxes to distract children from all the tubes in them or doctors constantly buzzing around them.

This is Ivy (it’s not me) and she has an immune deficiency disorder.

Immunodeficiency disorders prevent your body from being able to fight infections and diseases the way it should. An immunodeficiency disorder makes you considerably more susceptible to catching viruses and bacterial infections. - http://www.healthline.com/health/immunodeficiency-disorders#Overview

Every three weeks Ivy has to go into hospital and have infusions of white blood cells to boost her immune system just so she can go to school and live life as a normal child.

Thank you so much for reading my blog. I hope this has shown you what Starlight do and I hope that (if you weren’t already) you might support them or make a donation.  Now that you’ve read my blog could you possibly answer a few short questions and leave your response in the comments along with your country (important!) or please just leave what country you’re from in the comments. Thank you!

Questions:

  1. Have you ever heard of Starlight before?
  2. If you hadn’t then do you now feel informed about what Starlight do?
  3. Would you now consider supporting Starlight and/or be likely to tell your friends and family about them?
  4. And as I said, could you leave your hometown/country (If not in UK)
Once again thank you so much for showing interest in my blog :)

Ivy
