Just a Drop of Safe Water = Saved Lives

Hi, my name is Freya, and I would firstly like to thank you very much for visiting my blog.

My aim is to raise awareness about the issue of people suffering from unsafe or a lack of water, and to gain support through donations for my chosen charity – Just a Drop. I also aim to change people’s attitudes to how we use water in our everyday lives.

People using dirty water and having inadequate sanitation is an international problem, and affects more than 884 million people.

  • One of my aims is to change people’s attitudes to everyday use of safe water is because wealthier countries tend to take water for granted. Yet like the picture below, some people have no choice of whether to drink the only water available to them or not.
  • Humans cannot survive on average for more than 3-5 days without water. That is why women and children have to walk miles every day to collect water to let their families hopefully survive.
  • Water allows people to water their crops, and give drink to their animals. Without water, they could not have their crops nor animals to gain food from.
  • The water people in certain countries must drink contains germs and bad bacteria. When they drink this or use this to wash, they can become infected by deadly diseases such as diarrhoea, cholera and bilharzia (an infection caused by parasites).
  • You can help by giving just £1, as this will let a child receive the simple need of safe water for almost 10 years.  Your money will help Just a Drop to build wells and fresh water pumps in communities, and to teach people about building these, so the projects done are long term. You can also get involved with any fundraising events, including the annual event of World Water day – held on 22nd March. To donate or find out more please visit Just a Drop website at www.justadrop.org/ .
Thank you so much for reading my blog, but if you would mind answering these feedback questions I would be incredibly grateful:
  1. From reading my blog, do you now feel more informed about the charity Just a Drop and the problem of people suffering from unsafe water and not having any adequate sanitation?
  2. Would you now donate to Just a Drop (even one pound will help!) or get involved with any fundraising events to help Just a Drop including World Water day?
  3. Would you now tell a family member or a friend about Just a Drop or the problem of unsafe water, and tell them to support too?
  4. Have you now changed your attitude to having the everyday basic need of water to use, and do you no longer take clean water for granted?
Please also state your hometown and country (if you do not live in the U.K.)

I cannot thank you enough for reading my blog!
Freya
