Believe In Children, Believe In Barnardos…

Hello I’m Olivia and I have chosen the Charity Barnardos for my GCSE citizenship. Firstly I would like to say thank you for taking time to read my blog about the helpful charity Barnardos. I hope to inform you about Barnardos and help you realise what is happening to poor children around the UK. Barnardos do a big deal to help these children so why don’t you?

Barnardos is a charity which helps try to transform lives of vulnerable children all around the UK. As one of the UK's leading children's charities, Barnardo's works directly with over 190,000 children, and their families every year. They believe that that every child deserves the best start in life and the chance to fulfil their potential. Barnardos covers a wide range of problems from Poverty-struggling disabilities.

Hannah is one of thousands of children in the UK who care for sick or disabled relatives. From the age of nine, she has worked hard every day, cleaning, cooking and caring for her mother who has serious mental health problems. She does it willingly, out of love, and yet it gives her no time for friends, for hobbies or simply for being a child. The last thing she would want is to be separated from her mum – but as she says "you can have some good days and some bad days but the good days aren’t really good."

Fortunately Stacey has Barnardo’s to help her get through each day. Their Young Carers project gives her somewhere to go where she can meet other young people her age.  She is also willing to accept practical help from us, because she trusts us not to try and take her mother away from her: "I’d like to keep hold of her for as long as possible," she says.

Thank you once again for taking interest in reading my blog. Please can you now consider answering a few questions about the charity? It would be great if you wrote a sentence or a few words. Please help give the children a future. If you do write a response, please can you state where you come from i.e. your home town & country. (If not in the UK.)
  • Have you heard about Barnardos before?
  • Do you feel more informed about the charity?
  • Would you consider...
  1.  Making a donation?
  2. Volunteering?
  3. Telling friends and family?
  4. Fundraising?
Thank you!
Olivia
